What You Should Know About Auto Glass Installation
When auto glass is damaged, it should be replaced or repaired immediately. This is for two reasons – firstly, the damaged glass poses serious risk to the occupants of the car (if not taken care of), and secondly, the glass has a role to play in protecting car passengers in case of an accident. So, to ensure that the automobile’s occupants are safe, it is important to get it replaced by an auto glass company. Here are some of the steps that go into auto glass installation:

Technicians typically assess the extent of damage to the auto glass to determine whether it requires repair or replacement. The key criterion based on which he makes this decision is the state’s law on what accounts for replacement. Once he decides that the auto glass requires replacement, the technician will remove the auto glass. If the glass that requires to be changed is that of a window, he will have to remove the door panels of your automobile.
This will allow him access to the glass. On removing the glass, he will prepare the frame or area of the automobile on which a new one will be placed. Once you select the glass, the technician will use suction cups to gently lower the glass onto its frame. The glass is then secured based on where it is located – the front (windshield), the sides, or the back. Some of the materials used for this are bolts, metal clips, tape, adhesive, sealants and molding. After the glass has been installed, you will be required to wait for a certain period before you can drive the automobile. This is because, the adhesive used on the glass takes time to set. If it is not allowed to do so, the new glass is susceptible to damage.
